Human Rights Foundation attempts to make intervention in environmental issues that largely affect the ecology of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Effective enforcement of environmental rights lies in equipping communities to take part in environmental decision-making. HRF firmly believes that the right to a clean environment is a basic human right, and has been actively involved in fighting environmental degradation that affects the lives and livelihood of the islanders.

Human Rights Foundation also takes up cases in the High Court and Green Tribunal on the issues that affect the ecology and environment of the islands, coastlines and the sea. The lawyers at HRF have been very instrumental in ensuring that the laws to protect environment in Andaman and Nicobar Islands are fully implemented. In this endeavour, lawyers at HRF have also moved the High Court and obtained orders for the Administration for improvement of the environmental conditions of the Islands.
