What we do

Human Rights Foundation is only entity in Andaman and Nicobar Islands which uses social as well as legal tools to achieve its goals to empower the women, children, tribal and other underprivileged and marginalised class of the society. Human Rights Foundation is a collective of Social Activists and Lawyers, who are dedicated to use social and legal system to advance human rights in the islands.

In this endeavour, Human Rights Foundation also connects with grass-roots development and social movements to enforce the rights of poor marginalised people and to challenge oppression, exploitation and discrimination against any group or individual on the grounds of caste, gender, disability, age, religion, language, ethnic group, sexual orientation, and health, economic or social status. In achieving its goals, Human Rights Foundation also uses the tool of legal intervention like use of Public Interest Litigation (PILs) to ensure that the rights of the poor, marginalised and underprivileged section of the society is safeguarded.

Human Rights Foundation also provides pro bono legal services, conducts public interest litigation, engages in advocacy, conducts legal awareness programmes, investigates violations, publishes 'know your rights' materials, conducts researches and studies and also participates in campaigns.
