Coastal Rights

HRF’s Coastal Rights Training is designed to empower coastal communities in Tamil Nadu by equipping them with knowledge of environmental law, governance, and advocacy tools to protect their livelihoods and ecosystems. It serves as both a practical training program and a research-driven initiative.

  • Livelihood Protection: Coastal communities depend on fishing, farming, and tourism; training helps them defend these rights.
  • Environmental Safeguards: Coastal ecosystems are vulnerable to climate change, industrial projects, and pollution.
  • Inclusive Governance: Ensures marginalized voices are heard in local and state-level decision-making.
  • Human Rights Integration: Links environmental protection with broader human rights advocacy.
  • Awareness education: Coastal issues and their impact on coastal communities.
